A major North American energy company was involved in a plant expansion in Detroit that required the integration of new equipment and the replacement of legacy equipment. Using traditional, proprietary connectivity technology was too costly, so the energy company looked for a better solution. They found MatrikonOPC, who offered an OPC solution that was easy to integrate, cost-effective, flexible, and made future expansion easy.
The scope of the project involved interfacing a Triconex Trident Safety System with Honeywell’s Experion PKS visualization software. To make the connection between the device and the application, the company installed Matrikon's OPC Server for Trident. It connected 300 points, updating them every second.
