In April 2001, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer with annual revenue of almost one billion dollars U.S. and 3500 employees conducting business in 60 countries around the world successfully implemented Matrikon's OPC Server for Honeywell PHD.
Their goal was to boost production 5% by enhancing the Honeywell TDC3000 DCS control on three product dryers, and they called on TransAmerican Automation to provide the solution. TransAmerican Automation implemented QuickStudy, a Microsoft Windows NT based Model-Based Predictive Controller (MBPC) supplied by Adaptive Resources. Since QuickStudy was already OPC compliant, they were quickly able to connect to Matrikon's OPC Server for the Honeywell PHD.
The MBPC was connected to approximately 100 points and was reading from approximately 90 points while writing to 10 points every second.

"The support staff did an excellent job, so our experience with Matrikon has been very positive, and our client has pursued additional business with us," he added.
