Santos Limited, Australia's largest gas producer, has selected Matrikon for a multi-year corporate contract, including products, services and support, for the capture of historical process information.
Santos has also standardized on Matrikon's OPC Connectivity Suite for communication between plant devices.
Matrikon will supply and integrate OPC connectivity with Aspen Technology's InfoPlus.21 historian. OPC (OLE for Process Control) is a standard for communication between various computing platforms and technology. This system will initially capture data from Santos' operations at Moomba, Ballera, Port Bonython, and several other sites throughout Australia. As a corporate standard, this technology is expected to be implemented in other Santos operations outside Australia.
"We are working with Santos to leverage information technology as part of their program for optimizing production and ensuring cost leadership across the company," said Dr. Sam Crisafulli, Director of Advanced Applications at Matrikon in Australia. "This is achieved through immediate access to historical data so that the best decisions can be made regarding operations."
"With Matrikon's leadership position in industrial connectivity and extensive experience with historical data systems in the oil and gas industry, Matrikon is able to meet Santos' immediate needs as well as help them grow for the future. We are very pleased to have been selected as a Santos partner in delivering significant value to Santos and their stakeholders. Our data capture capability and extensive oil and gas experience will serve them well in the years to come," Crisafulli continued.
To further extend Matrikon's presence in the Australian oil and gas industry, a sales office has recently been opened in Perth, with future plans to expand it to provide technical services to clients in Western Australia.
