Edmonton, Alberta – November 1, 2003 - Matrikon Inc. (TSX: MTK) today announced that Spartan Controls, an Emerson Process Management representative, is including Matrikon’s OPC Server for Fisher ROC in their integration solutions when implementing Fisher devices. This agreement has prompted Matrikon to add functionality and maintain the server with the latest OPC technology as specifications evolve. Improvements include an enhanced polling engine, communication redundancy, support for multiple protocols on a single communication medium and more.
In addition to developing and supplying the OPC Server for Fisher ROC to Spartan Controls, Matrikon will provide second-line technical support for all installations of the OPC Server.
"I am excited to be able to offer our customers the ability to integrate OPC into their new and existing systems” says Barry Blight, Spartan’s Manager of Process Control Systems. “I feel confident that Spartan’s experience, combined with top-of-the-line OPC Servers from Matrikon and backed by Matrikon’s technical support, will allow us to offer the most solid, robust and scalable solutions possible to our customers."
Matrikon’s OPC Server for Fisher ROC provides connectivity to Fisher devices, including the series of FloBoss flow meters and ROC RTUs, enabling users to benefit from the advantages of OPC. This OPC Server also supports communication channel redundancy and multiple protocols such as DNP3, IEC60870-5, Modbus and others. OPC (OLE for Process Control) is an open standard that permits a consistent method of accessing data from plant floor and field devices regardless of vendor. OPC makes it possible to connect disparate systems with a single published standard.
