"MatrikonOPC has such an extensive library of off-the-shelf servers, I knew they would have the servers I needed to complete the integration."
Systems Engineer, Major Petrochemical Company
Following a plant expansion at a major petrochemical company's olefins plant, personnel were looking for a way to make an Ethernet connection from their fault-tolerant control system, a Triconex Tricon, and their turbine control system, a GE Mark VI, to client applications. These applications included various Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Environmental Management and Monitoring Systems (EMMS) applications for which they needed quick, reliable access to operating data and diagnostics.
To handle the connectivity requirements, the project manager chose OPC’s Server for Triconex Tricon and OPC Server for Mark VI. Previous experience with Matrikon had proven the quality of the products and the support provided by Matrikon.
"MatrikonOPC has such an extensive library of off-the-shelf servers, I knew they would have the servers I needed to complete the integration," the project manager said. "MatrikonOPC has always provided great support for their products in the past."
With some help from MatrikonOPC’s support team, the project manager was able to integrate the solution with very little trouble.
"The support desk was very helpful and accessible," he says.
Personnel at the plant can now reliably and efficiently access data from their control systems. The project will be expanded in the future and there are plans to make MatrikonOPC products part of the solution.
