GE Turbines OPC Server Suite
Easy GE Turbine Control System Integration with DCSs and Historians
Version 3.2.0.8738
GE Turbines OPC Server from MatrikonOPC is standard
off-the-shelf software that provides secure and reliable integration with the
GE Turbine Control System. With the GE Turbine OPC Server, users can
communicate to a variety of GE Turbine Controllers such as Mark V, Mark VI,
Mark Vie, Mark V LM, Mark V B… etc.

MODBUS is no longer the preferred method of communicating with GE turbine
controllers. GE Turbines OPC Server offers the easiest way to deliver high
speed Ethernet connectivity, redundancy, alarms (with millisecond timestamp accuracy) – for any other 3rd
party OPC compliant DCSs/historians.
GE Turbines OPC Server uses Ethernet/TCP-IP communications for high performance
bi-directional data transfer making it capable of transferring high tag volumes
at sub-second update rates. GE Turbines OPC Server integrates GE alarms and
events for centralized supervision & effective
trouble-shooting with accurate millisecond timestamp accuracy.

Features & Applications
GE Turbines OPC Server from MatrikonOPC features include:
-
Direct connectivity to the GE Mark turbine controllers - eliminating the need
for an iBOX and GSM greatly simplifying migrations to any modern HMI or
Historian.
-
Enables you to import controllers’ information from the TCI PC configuration
files (Site’s configuration files).
-
Automatic configuration of OPC Server and tag lists using TCI PC configuration
files (Site’s configuration files).
-
Single window to entire plant process
-
High speed Ethernet communication for enhanced throughput.
-
Turbine alarm & events consolidation at DCS (with millisecond timestamp accuracy) for centralized
management & trouble-shooting
-
High availability through redundancy at multiple levels
-
Bi-directional communication supporting control commands i.e. push buttons /
set points from DCS saving hard-wiring
-
GE Turbines OPC Server communication status diagnostics in DCS
-
User-friendly configuration tool
-
Troubleshooting logs.
Alarm & Event Integration
Turbine alarms can be remotely acknowledged from DCS consoles. Any DCS with OPC
AE client can integrate turbine alarms using GE Turbines OPC Server.
Accurate Alarm and Event capture is critical for power plants, especially for
troubleshooting turbine trip situations. GE Turbines OPC Server captures SOE in
millisecond resolution and consolidates them with DCS SOE without loss or
modification of timestamp accuracy. Unlike conventional MODBUS solutions, GE
Turbines OPC Server eliminates investments on separate SOE I/O racks.
Advanced Alarm features:
-
Millisecond timestamp resolution
-
Disable and Enable specific Alarms through OPC control items.
-
Alarm information can be retrieved through OPC DA Items.
-
Supports process, diagnostic alarms, and logic events via simple OPC A&E.
-
Turbine Alarm Acknowledgement
Turbine integration parameters
-
Turbine unit control, excitation, synchronization (Supervisory Control)
-
All temperatures (bearing, exhaust, generator etc)
-
Trip status, overspeed protection etc.
-
Auxiliary drives status (vent fans, exhaust blowers, cooling water pumps etc)
-
Vibration status
-
Timers & Counters
-
Flame detection
-

The GE Turbines OPC Server is OPC Certified!
OPC Certification is the process of ensuring that applications meet the
standards specified by the OPC Foundation. OPC Certification requires extensive
testing to ensure true interoperability. OPC Certification means multi-vendor
system interoperability is guaranteed. If your OPC products are not certified,
you need to ask your vendor what sort of guarantees they offer.
